One Palette, Endless Possibilities
Sometimes a color palette just won’t let go. That’s exactly what happened with the thread colors I pulled together for the rainbow trout embroidery above. The mix of soft blue-greens, mossy greens, pinks, and sky blues felt so vibrant and joyful that I couldn’t resist carrying them into other designs.
After the trout was finished, those same colors found their way into some of my favorite motifs: a rural landscape, textured feather, an abstract design inspired by the patterns of the rainbow trout, an oyster shell, a mussel shell, and a woven heart.
I love how the palette shifts and adapts, working just as beautifully across so many different subjects.
That’s the magic of a good palette—it becomes its own language, one you can keep speaking in fresh, unexpected ways. Versatile, beautiful, and endlessly inspiring.
And while I’ve loved every stitch using these colors, it’s time to set them aside for now and see what new mix will inspire me next.
How about you—do you find yourself coming back to the same colors again and again, or do you prefer to start fresh with every new project?
Until next time…happy stitching!
